Starbuck in Seattle! Dirk Benedict at Emerald City Comicon

courtesy Emerald City Comicon

I’m excited to share that Dirk Benedict is coming to Emerald City Comicon next year! The actor played two notorious ladies’ men on two iconic television shows of my youth. On the original Battlestar Galactica Benedict played Lt. Starbuck. The Colonial pilot blasted Cylons, seduced ladies but Apollo and the fleet could always count on him when they needed him. I admit I had the Starbuck action figure along with a Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider.

Benedict then played Templeton Peck aka Faceman on the classic series The A-Team. This was another great role to showcase Benedict’s charisma, charm and comic timing. The Montana native attended college in Walla Walla, Washington and performed in Seattle theatre productions before becoming a pop culture icon with two classic characters.

Benedict will be appearing all three days. Emerald City Comicon is March 1-3, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center. Tickets are on sale online or visit a local comic book shop selling tickets – and pick a book or three while you’re there!

ARROW Casts Farscape, Stargate Star

courtesy The CW

Producers of The CW hit ARROW are making it hard for die-hard sci-fi fans not to tune in! Ben Browder (Farscape, Stargate SG-1) will join the series as DC Comics character Ted Gaynor according to IGN.

The Blackhawk Squadron member will be the former commanding office of bodyguard Diggle on the series. Browder recently guest starred on the Doctor Who episode A Town Called Mercy. I LOVED Browder as John Crichton on Farscape. Ted Gaynor hits Starling City in the eleventh episode.

John Barrowman (Torchwood, Doctor Who) will join the series in a yet undisclosed role.

Celebrate WILLOW! Can She Bring Magic Back to BUFFY?

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Willow Wonderland #1 courtesy Dark Horse Comics

Let’s celebrate the approval of marriage equality victories in Maine, Maryland (and my state Washington) by celebrating the gorgeous and enchanting lesbian of the Buffyverse!

Willow is back in a brand new series!

In a world without magic Willow Rosenberg grabs Buffy’s scythe and sets out to set things right!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow Wonderland #1 begins the new adventure this week. Jeff Parker and Brian Ching weave a new tale starring the sweet witch of the Buffyverse from Dark Horse Comics.

I’m loving this cover by David Mack.

Willow is a groundbreaking character. She may bring magic back to the world of Buffy. Willow can now marry in more states in the U.S.

Neil Gaiman Returns to DOCTOR WHO!

Matt Smith as The Doctor courtesy BBC America

Neil Gaiman crafted one of my favorite and heartfelt episodes of Doctor Who ever! The author of The Doctor’s Wife will write a new adventure for the Time Lord featuring the Cybermen!

Warwick Davis, Tamzin Outhwaite and Jason Watkins will join Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman for the episode.

“Cybermen were always the monsters that scared me the most! Not just because they were an awesome military force, but because sometimes they could be sleek and silver and right behind you without you even knowing. ’ He added, ‘And with one of the all-time classic monsters returning, and a script from one of our finest novelists, it’s no surprise we have attracted such stellar names as Tamzin, Jason and Warwick,” Executive Producer Steven Moffatt told the BBC.

Doctor Who returns at Christmas and then for 8 episodes in 2013.
