Doctor Strange’s Scientific Advisor?

I hated math and science as a kid and a college student. Always said I’ll never use that for anything I want to pursue. If my teachers only knew the irony of this next story they’d be laughing and saying “we told you so.”

Sean Carroll is a theoretical physicist. The scientist is one of three that got to work on Marvel’s Thor. The experts worked with the film’s writer, director and producer as a scientific advisor. You need help if you’re going to have Frost Giants falling to their death on an ice world.

io9 has the full interview and a scoop – Carroll says he’s working with Marvel on Doctor Strange! His job will be to set limits on the sorcerer Supreme’s powers.

You may have seen my post – a new photo of Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins made me think that he’d be perfect as the Master of the Mystic Arts.

I hope they chose the Doctor’s new threads he’s wearing as leaders of the new Defenders.

Here’s hoping producers choose The Winter Soldier storyline as a modern-day sequel for Cap.

Which Marvel character deserves the second slot? Nick Fury and SHIELD, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye or will a long rumored Ant-Man movie finally happen?

“The Crow” Soars Again?

The Crow Special Edition cover courtesy Amazon.

The Crow will fly again on the big screen. The lawsuit is settled. Relativity has hired a director and writer for a remake based on the classic comic book by James O’Barr.

  F. Javier Gutierrez (After the Fall) will direct and Jessie Wigutow will script according The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision.

The story centers on a murdered musician brought back to life by supernatural forces to avenge the killing of his fiancée and himself. Brandon Lee died in an accident on the set while filming the first movie in 1993. The Alex Proyas directed film became a cult classic. Brandon Lee was excellent in the film and it’s haunting to think about what could have been if not for the freak accident.

At one point Bradley Cooper was on board but dropped out of the remake. I love the James O’Barr graphic novels. I also recommend the novel The Crow: The Lazarus Heart by Poppy Z. Brite.

The Dark Knight Rises brings Bane back on the big screen for Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film. Fans speculate that Bane will break the Bat like he did in the famous Knightfall storyline.

Star Christian Bale apparently used another famous Batman story to prepare for his final film in the cape and cowl. Bale tells the New York Daily News that Batman: Year One by Frank Miller was crucial to understanding the role.

“Suddenly, I found Batman has so many issues, he’s not a healthy individual, this is somebody that is doing good, but he’s right on the verge of doing bad,” Bale told the Daily News. “He’s got that killer within him that he’s desperately not trying to let off his leash. And that’s what I always return to.”
