Avengers Assemble in Seattle

Not only is Seattle comic book cool because we’re the home of Emerald City Comicon, Ed Brubaker, Fantagraphics and Soundgarden (their first song in 15 years will be featured in Marvel’s The Avengers!) but we have the Seattle International Film Festival.

SIFF Cinema is giving Avengers fans their own heroic festival to get caught up on the super team’s solo adventures. The Avengers Assemble series is April 30th May 4th at SIFF Cinema Uptown. You can see The Incredible Hulk, an Iron Man Double Feature, Thor in 3D and Captain America: The First Avenger in 3D.

And don’t forget the The International Film Festival starts May 17th.

“Prometheus” Talking Empire Cover

Prometheus cover of Empire Magazine May 2012

Prometheus star Noomi Rapace is gracing the cover of the May issue of Empire Magazine. The cover proclaims Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien universe as “the movie of the year.”

The cover comes with its own special effects: Empire promotes that their holographic cover will shout “We were so wrong!” at you when you open it.

That’s the line from Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Rapace) from the trailer which you can see again below:

At the Empire Awards Michael Fassbender spoke with Red Carpet News TV about his role in Prometheus. The interviewer asked if the star playing an android saw anything from the previous Alien films on set.

“There are certain elements of the spaceship. There are threads of it there, there’s almost an aftersmell of it in the air, there’s the essence of it there,” Fassbender said.

You can see the interview below including a joke about wearing Magneto’s helmet from X-Men: First Class.

Fassbender is playing an android named David. You can see a “commercial” for his character here. His android voice in the trailer is still chill inducing because you know David has “special” programming from “the company!”

Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as Black Widow in Iron Man 3 according to Latino Review who have a cast list. Black Widow was an undercover SHIELD agent posing as Tony Stark’s assistant in Iron Man 2. The third solo movie starring the armored Avenger starts filming in North Carolina this May.

In a previous interview Johansson expressed her willingness to star in a Black Widow solo film. This post also looks at great stories that could make a cool film.

Dark Knight Rises Star Admits to Almost Losing the Script!

The plot of The Dark Knight Rises is one of Hollywood’s best kept secrets. Gary Oldman reveals he almost lost his script for the final Batman film.

“I was in a panic for 20 minutes,” Oldman told the BBC. “I thought, ‘where the hell have I put it?'”

“It had my name on it,” he added. “They would have killed me”. The script surfaced in his hotel room.

“I’d gone out for dinner,” he explained, “and I had put it in the room between the mattress and the bed, because I couldn’t scrunch it into the safe.

“I was half-thinking about something else and shoved it there.”

The actor who plays Commissioner Jim Gordon went on to describe how director Christopher Nolan and Warner Brothers protected the script.

“When he [Nolan] gives the script out, it doesn’t have the ending. Characters sometimes change, or their names change. And you have to go to the studio to read it.”

All the secrets are revealed when The Dark Knight Rises opens this summer. Thanks to Baird Warnick for the story suggestion!

It’s the Doctor Who Season Trailer, Partner! Yee-Haw!

Matt Smith as The Doctor courtesy BBC America

Matt Smith must really enjoy wearing hats. The Time Lord is wearing a cowboy hat again in the trailer for season 7 of Doctor Who. (I prefer the cowboy hat to the fez!) The Doctor, Amy and Rory will face cyborg outlaws in the American Wild West, robots (that look like those big scarab metal bug aliens from The Fifth Element) and what I suspect might be Nefertiti in ancient Egypt.

This is the final season for companions Amy and Rory but don’t forget the Doctor’s team-up with Captain Picard! IDW is publishing a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Generation series later this year.

Here’s the trailer:
