  Iron Man 3 is still shining on top of the U.S. box office. Robert Downey Jr is in negotiations with Marvel/Disney but it looks like Tony Stark’s dear old dad will appear in the Marvel cinematic universe next year.

Will Dominic Cooper reprise his role as Howard Stark in Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Cooper played Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger and the genius industrialist play a huge role in the creation of the super soldier. It’s possible Howard Stark will appear in flashbacks that will reveal the creation of the Winter Soldier, Cold War Russia’s answer to the Star-Spangled Avenger.

In the comic books Iron Man writer Kieron Gillen is exploring Howard Stark’s past in The Secret Origin of Tony Stark. Part Two comes out this week in Iron Man #10 in which Tony and Death’s Head make a startling discovery in space that triggers a search for answers in the past.

The biggest news of the network Fall up fronts (when all the U.S. television networks reveal their new shows and lineups) is the official word that Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been picked up and will air on ABC this Fall!

Marvel’s The Avengers director Joss Whedon wrote and directed the pilot starring the superspy agency that’s been a huge part of the recent Marvel films.

First Look at James McAvoy on X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Here’s a first look at James McAvoy on the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past courtesy director Bryan Singer via Twitter. Singer’s reveal comes with the reference of the 1970’s Al Pacino film Serpico and it fits given McAvoy’s long hair and shirt!

McAvoy is reprising his role as the younger Professor Charles Xavier. Sir Patrick Stewart is reprising his role as Professor X too. The upcoming film unites the cast of the original X-Men films and X-Men: First Class.

The new film is set in the 1970’s and an dark future ruled by Sentinels. No word on if McAvoy and Stewart will appear in scenes together.

The success of Iron Man 3 is a reason to celebrate and speculate! Robert Downey Jr. is now reportedly negotiating with Marvel/Disney to reprise his role as Tony Stark in Avengers 2 and 3 but Iron Man 4 is not part of the discussions according to The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision.

Avengers 2 is the finale of Marvel Phase Two (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy.) Phase Three kicks off with Ant-Man and ends with Avengers 3.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Essential Villains

You could almost give Amazing Spider 2 a subtitle: the Many Foes of Spider-Man! The sequel includes Electro, Rhino, Norman and Harry Osborn. Super hero sequels have suffered from the inclusion of too many villains but writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci say all these foes are “essential” to the story:

“I think you have to go into it and say, ‘is this character essential to the story or are you just throwing him in for no reason whatsoever’,” Kurtzman tells MTV.

The sequel swings into cinemas in May, 2014.
