One of my favorite moments from Fan Expo Vancouver was talking with Kristin Bauer of True Blood. She teased that we’ll learn Pam’s back story this upcoming season. TV Guide has new details.
“There’s a new vampire in her life,” teases creator Alan Ball. This new character will be part of Pam’s life when her maker Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) goes MIA. Flashbacks this season will reveal how Pam and Eric met in 1905.
“You’ll see how Pam was made,” says Ball.
Will this new vamp being a mentor/lover or both? I just hope Pam survives the Vampire war this season!
Rex Velvet, the self-proclaimed “Super Villain” of Seattle is back with a brand new video released today. After two previous videos and confrontation with Phoenix Jones on Seattle morning radio last week – Velvet teased something big this week.
In the latest creation – Velvet “confronts” an alleged real hero of the movement and reissues his challenge to members of the Rain City Super Hero Movement to give up their costumes.
I literally almost ran into Rex this weekend in downtown Seattle. I can’t confirm but I think it was just after he filmed his latest creation. As you can see from this video I may have been spared from a cruel fate…
The Walking Dead Season Three seems so far away. AMC revealed this behind the scenes video of the cast filming the first episode where they reach the prison – which you saw in the final episode of last season. This season will focus on the a settlement of survivors based in a prison complex in Woodbury and run by a man known as the Governor.
The new season will also introduce the machete wielding surivor and fan favorite Michonne.
If you’re like me you’re still geeky giddy with the news that legendary Neal Adams will write and draw The First X-Men. This retro but in canon tale will feature Wolverine and Sabretooth.
In the latest Axel-In-Charge column on Comic Book Resources Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso revealed interior pages of the series. I wanted to share this interpretation of Victor Creed by Adams. Alonso revealed the balance the retro story with modern readers.
“It’s a challenge. Neal pitched us a really great concept for a Wolverine story that we realized, with a little bit of work, might actually fit as an official piece of X-Men history. A story that illuminated the connection between Wolverine’s, Professor X and Sabretooth and, indeed, the very concept of a mutant super-team. The few months Neal and [writer] Christos [Gage] and [editor] Nick [Lowe] work-shopped that story really paid off — it became so much richer and important and relevant, considering surprises that have yet to be revealed in “Avengers Vs. X-Men.” I commend Neal and [writer] Christos [Gage] and [editor] Nick [Lowe] for their ability to take this story and make it count.”
I’m definitely excited for this new series. If you want to experience Neal Adams first X-Men stories then check out Essential X-Men Volume 3. Writer Roy Thomas and Neal Adams energized the series especially with the introduction of Havok, the Living Monolith story and future X-Man from Japan, Sunfire.
Avengers vs X-Men pounded into round four this week at comic book shops. A Seattle rivalry heated up in an entertaining way this week. Thursday was the first ‘meeting’ between rivals Phoenix Jones and Rex Velvet on a Seattle morning radio show.
Jones is the leader of the Rain City Super Hero Movement and patrols the streets as a costumed crime fighter. Rex Velvet proclaimed himself “The People’s Villain” in two You Tube videos, a Facebook page and Twitter handle. Velvet has been challenging Jones and mocking him and his supporters.
You can listen to the exchange from Jackie & Bender on KISS FM here. The best quote has to go to Jones calling Velvet the “Kim Kardashian of Villains.”
Earlier I spotted the Social Villains Alliance on Velvet’s Facebook page. Tonight on Velvet’s Twitter he teased a possible next move next week posting that Jones “has no idea what’s coming.”
A new video? A face to face meeting?
What do you think of Seattle’s super hero and villain rivalry?
Jason Aaron is one of the minds behind Avengers vs X-Men epic and I love his Wolverine and the X-Men ongoing. I always wondered what it’s like to be comic book writer. I wanted to share this episode of MTV Geek’s Avengers vs X-Men War Journal. Aaron reveals is first comic book, how he got his big break, and the creative process behind AvX.
I look forward to the episode with Ed Brubaker. At Emerald City Comicon, Matt Fraction jokingly warned Brubaker about the MTV Geek crew coming over to film at his home here in Seattle.
“If you could see what I’ve seen with your eyes,” is just one of the many quotes from Rutger Hauer as the doomed Roy Batty in Blade Runner. I love that movie. I’ve seen every version. I own the collector’s edition case. I’ve studied it over and over.
Ridley Scott is returning to the world of the other science fiction classic he created. Hampton Fancher is in talks to create an idea for a sequel to the classic film for Scott and Alcon Entertainment according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story goes on to say that the sequel is set “some years after the first film concluded” according to Alcon. I wonder which ending of the first film Scott will use to springboard into the future. I’m sure The Final Cut version.
Boom Studios produces a gorgeous graphic novel series based on the original Phillip K. Dick story on which Blade Runner is based: Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep?
Can you tell I’m a little excited about this? I think I’m more thrilled Scott’s return to the Alien mythos in Prometheus but I can’t wait to see how he expands the world of Blade Runner.
Peter David delivers a thrilling and witty conclusion to his story about real life heroes in Seattle. The X-Ceptionals are a team of non-powered, wannabe mutants patrolling the Emerald City. X-Factor Investigations is called on the case after some members are sliced and shredded.
Madrox and Shatterstar go undercover in an ironic case of heroes imitator heroes. The killer is revealed. The motive is exposed. Shatterstar proves why he was a formidable warrior in Mojoworld and in this world. David gives us an exciting showdown and a commentary on our society’s obsession with “reality.”
Artist Leonard Kirk packs the foreground and pushes the story forward. Shatterstar has edge, attitude and pulls off an impressive move with his blades that would make Wolverine take notice. The new villain Scattershot looks likes he stepped right out of the 90’s. I really loved the cover featuring the old school team head shots of the team in the corner – makes me nostalgic.
Now as a Seattle resident this storyline is especially ironic because you see we have real people who patrol the streets dressed as super heroes. Citizen Heroes is an upcoming documentary about the movement. Director Matt Harrison and crew went on patrol with the 15 ‘real life’ heroes of the Pacific Nortwest.
This week Phoenix Jones – the most famous member of the movement – asked his followers for suggestions on a new costume.
The Rain City Super Hero Movement recently inspired a self-proclaimed super villain: Rex Velvet. The “People’s Villain” has released two YouTube videos and is up to something with an alliance of other villains. You can see all my Rex Velvet updates here.
Today was a showdown in Seattle! Rex’s challenge was answered with a challenge by Jones. The two rivals “met” this morning on a Seattle radio show. Thanks to Jackie & Bender on KISS FM for uniting Jones and Velvet.
While the mutants in Seattle arc wraps up the real life storyline of Phoenix and Rex is just getting started. Maybe this ‘real life’ rivalry might inspire a sequel and X-Factor may return to Seattle for a new storyline. What do you think?
