The Walking Dead #100 is out this week but the undead were living it up in Seattle this weekend. The Red, White and Dead Zombie Walk was in the funky Fremont (home of the Summer Solstice – aka naked cyclists) neighborhood.

Thousands of the undead slumbered through the streets on a hot summer day. Photographer Josh Lewis captured the bloody good time for KOMONEWS.COM and Seattle Pulp.

Ryan Reynolds As New Highlander

There can be only one…and he is Ryan Reynolds? The man who played Deadpool (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Hal Jordan in Green Lantern has been cast as the lead in a new Highlander according to The Tracking Board. The site reports Reynolds will play Connor MacLeod and the remake is being directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

If you’re not familar…Christopher Lambert played the immortal warrior in century spanning feuds with others of his kind. Once you killed a fellow immortal you absorbed their energy and strength. The film showed Connor’s life in the 1500’s in the Scottish Highlands and in the present day. Sean Connery played his fellow immortal and mentor Ramirez. The film spawned sequels and television series and is known for music by Queen. Here’s a link to the trailer for the 1986 film. Here’s the trailer for Highlander Endgame which brought together Connor from the original film and Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) from the television series.

What I always found ironic with the original film is that a Frenchman was cast as a Scotsman and the most famous Scotsman was cast as a Spaniard but I still loved it.

Doctor Who New Season First Episode Title Is…

courtesy SFX.co.uk and BBC

Asylum of the Daleks! A classic enemy returns for the first episode of Season Seven according to SFX. This 60’s era Dalek looks like it’s been packed away for while! Steven Moffat is writing this episode featuring Daleks from different eras.

The site also features this first official publicity photo of Doctor Who with Amy and Rory. The married companions are leaving mid-season. Sigh.

This week the second issue of the Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 crossover comes out. The Doctor, Amy and Rory team up with Captain Picard and crew when the Borg and Cybermen united to attack the Federation.

And speaking of classic Daleks…an Imperal Dalek is one of the Icons of Science Fiction currently on exhibition at EMP Museum in Seattle – home of yours truly.

Avengers Firefly Mashup

Marvel’s The Avengers courtesy Marvel

I bow to the Joss Whedon superfan who lovingly created this mashup of the director’s most beloved projects. The fan recreated the opening credits of Firefly with characters/stars of Marvel’s The Avengers.

By Editor with thanks to Huffington Post and this creative, passionate fan. This just fuels my wish for Nathan Fillion and Summer Glau as Hank and Janet Pym.
