2018 Pacific Northwest Geek Guide

There’s something in the air and water – or maybe it’s all the tech? We have an abundance of cons for comics, sci-fi and anime that bring thousands and thousands of fans together in the Pacific Northwest. We even get to the chance to see cool new exhibits (Yes, that’s Spidey swinging across Seattle! Big news below!) and celebrities ready to greet their devoted fans.

Marvel Entertainment announced (first on BuzzFeed), “Marvel Rising,” a brand-new, multi-platform animation franchise starring the next generation of Marvel heroes. MARVEL UNIVERSE OF SUPER HEROES Exhibit Coming to Seattle

The Marvel Universe is coming to the Emerald City! Celebrate Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther and hundreds more iconic heroes and villains in a major new exhibit coming to the Museum of Pop Culture.

Pow! Pages, costumes and props never seen before by the public will be on display. Seeing more than 300 original artifacts to make you exclaim, “Make Mine Marvel!” as the old school comics proclaimed.

The new exhibition shares the Marvel story from the comic books of legends Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to movie screens and beyond. The retrospective comes as the Marvel Cinematic Universe celebrates a decade of blockbuster movies and the arrival of AVENGER: INFINITY WAR, the grand finale of Phase Four, and ahead of the Marvel Comics 80th anniversary the following year. MAGIC OF JIM HENSON Exhibition World Premiere

Jim Henson’s imagination has touched generations from Sesame Street to The Muppet Show to Labyrinth.

The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited celebrates the creator’s legacy with a collection including Kermit the Frog (The Muppet Show), Ernie and Bert (Sesame Street), Jen and Kira (The Dark Crystal) plus Jareth and Sarah’s ballroom costumes from Labyrinth featured in this exploration of the visionary entertainer’s work.

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) announced The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited. Organized by the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI), the traveling exhibition will make its world premiere at MoPOP on May 20, 2017 and remain on view through January 3, 2018. The traveling exhibition will open in advance of MoMI’s permanent gallery dedicated to the renowned puppeteer, director, and producer, which will debut this year.

The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited is a dynamic new visitor experience exploring Jim Henson’s groundbreaking work for film and television, and his transformative impact on popular culture. This comprehensive exhibition reveals how Henson and his team of builders, performers, and writers brought to life the enduringly popular worlds of The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and much more. IMAGE COMICS EMERALD CITY COMICON Stars, Panels and More

Image Comics return to Seattle for Emerald City Comic Con this week to celebrate the past and future with a stellar roster of creators, exclusives and a major panel event.

Original Image Comics company founders Todd McFarlane, Jim Valentino, Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri, and Whilce Portacio will reunite at ECCC to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary milestone. The panel will be moderated by The Walking Dead creator and Image Comics partner, Robert Kirkman.
