2018 Pacific Northwest Geek Guide

There’s something in the air and water – or maybe it’s all the tech? We have an abundance of cons for comics, sci-fi and anime that bring thousands and thousands of fans together in the Pacific Northwest. We even get to the chance to see cool new exhibits (Yes, that’s Spidey swinging across Seattle! Big news below!) and celebrities ready to greet their devoted fans.

2018 will bring a major comic book experience along with anticipated events to bring out the geek in all of us. Even if you don’t know your Marvel from DC, Star Wars from Trek, Warcraft from Destiny or Sailor Moon from Pokemon – you can still be of part of the fun. Even if it’s just to see all those crazy costumes.

MARVEL UNIVERSE OF SUPER HEROES Exhibit Coming to Seattle

The Marvel Universe is coming to the Emerald City! Celebrate Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther and hundreds more iconic heroes and villains in a major new exhibit coming to the Museum of Pop Culture.

Pow! Pages, costumes and props never seen before by the public will be on display. Seeing more than 300 original artifacts to make you exclaim, “Make Mine Marvel!” as the old school comics proclaimed.

The new exhibition shares the Marvel story from the comic books of legends Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to movie screens and beyond. The retrospective comes as the Marvel Cinematic Universe celebrates a decade of blockbuster movies and the arrival of AVENGER: INFINITY WAR, the grand finale of Phase Four, and ahead of the Marvel Comics 80th anniversary the following year. The superstars are aligning and blasting to Seattle for the 15th Anniversary of Emerald City Comicon, the biggest pop culture event in the Pacific Northwest.

DARK HERON Returns To EMERALD CITY COMICON

A Seattle born superhero shares her code-name with a beer crafted with comics inspiration. She’s back for a milestone event.

After crazy fun days of cosplaying, celebrity sightings and comic book collecting at Emerald City Comicon fans may need a break with a brew. Dark Heron returns to save the day.

ReedPOP and Fremont Brewing of Seattle, Washington announced they are bringing back the Dark Heron, an exclusive brew created as the Official Beer of Emerald City Comicon 2017. The Dark Heron will be rebooted with a new flavor and new artwork provided by local Seattle cartoonist, Jen Vaughn. The IPA was created to tap into the expressive spirit of the heroine and the comic fans who will swarm Seattle for ECCC’s 15th anniversary. VALIANT CATS COSPLAY COVERS Signing Seattle

Cosplay is not just for humans anymore. Whole families dress up as their favorite heroes and villains at comicons. Now cool cats are getting in on the act and stealing the spotlight in a month of covers.

Valiant Comics is the home of Faith, Bloodshoot, X-O Manowar, the Harbinger Renegades and more. This December the claws are out as the publisher marks new territory when it comes to comic book covers. Valiant’s biggest titles will have a special bonus cover featuring costumed kitties as their ultimate heroes.

Comics Dungeon in Seattle will host the December release of this all-new line of shelf covers with a live, in-person signing featuring stars (and real felines) Fawkes and Nak, with Freyu – creator of the Cat Cosplay of the Feline Variety blog on Saturday, December 17th.
