The new Doctor Who evolution blasted off with David Tennant taking over the role. Steely yet cheeky. Tennant’s Time Lord could be a powerhouse menace against any invader who dared to threaten Earth or tear our hearts out as he crumbled over the loss of a loved one (like a companion or genetically created daughter.)
In Season Two Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) continued her journeys with the Doctor until the heartbreaking goodbye after a Dalek/Cybermen conflict in Doomsday. Dr. Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) would pine away for the Doctor for one season before Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) matched wits with Tennant for the final season. Tennant and Tate were an amazing team with perfect comic timing – essential for a Time Lord!
Nova just blasted off! Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness relaunched the Human Rocket with a new kid under the helmet. Marvel revealed Zeb Wells and Paco Medina will take over Sam Alexander’s adventures with Nova #6.
“This is a story that’s been in the works for quite some time. Steve and Ed and I have been in the trenches of knowing where it was going and hoped new readers and the existing fanbase would embrace a new story in the Nova legacy. This is not a reboot or a reinvention, it’s another story. What’s wonderful about Nova is that you can follow the exploits of different characters. People are enjoying Nova and I hope some of that is the story, but I know we have an incredible art team” said Jeph Loeb.
Who will be riding the Marvel Now! Wave 2? Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso told Comic Book Resources new series will launch this July. Uncanny Avengers, All-New X-Men, Indestructible Hulk were some of the new titles in the aftermath of Avengers vs. X-Men.
Wave 2 will launch in the aftermath of Age of Ultron. Marvel already revealed the epilogue of that event will be co-written by Neil Gaiman and introduce Angela into the Marvel Universe and the finale will have a dramatic event on Hank Pym.
Will we see new concepts like Uncanny Avengers and Fearless Defenders and new takes with new creators like Avengers by Jonathan Hickman and Fantastic Four/FF by Matt Fraction?
Who deserves to star in their own Marvel Now! series next?
Here are my picks for Marvel Now! Wave 2:

As we celebrate Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary with a new companion, new monsters and the return of old enemies. As we wait for the return of the eleventh Doctor on March 30th I’m flashing back to the “fantastic” rebirth of the Time Lord.
The Time Lord’s television adventures ended in 1989 except for a Fox movie in 1996 and I had stopped watching with the end of the Peter Davison era until hope arrived in 2005.
Christopher Eccleston (Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later, The Others) clad in black leather and uttering “fantastic” was an exciting modern jolt of cool energy under the guidance of producer Russell Davies during The First Series. The Ninth Doctor was joined by Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and later the omnisexual alien rogue Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) for a series of adventures with a haunting image in each episode. The new series began with an unlikely old enemy – the Autons – but ended with a bang – Daleks! Harkness would rejoin the series and lead his own series, Torchwood.
My favorite episodes were definitely the creepy The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances set in World War II. I saw a kid dressed as one of the gas masked children from the episode at Fan Expo Vancouver. I asked the kid if he was paying homage to the Doctor and he replied, “are you my mummy?” and I slowly backed away! Still chilling and thrilling!
The first season featured the debut of the Slitheen, a guest appearance by Charles Dickens in The Unquiet Dead and actor Simon Pegg in The Long Game.
Eccleston left after only one season but went to several films. He will play Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves in Thor: The Dark World this November.
Hot off the Tweaser and just ahead of the trailer – Fox revealed two new motion posters showing the 3D power of The Wolverine! via the film’s Facebook page:
Hugh Jackman as Logan is armed with his signature metal claws a samurai sword! The X-Man’s new solo film is based on the classic limited series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller in which Logan travels to Japan and falls in love with the daughter of a crime lord.
Valiant will bring back “the world’s worst superhero team” this Summer! Quantum & Woody return to the Valiant Universe in a new ongoing series by James Asmus (Gambit, Thief of Thieves, Captain America & Bucky) and artist Continue reading Quantum & Woody Return
Bishop is back – like you’ve never seen him before! The time lost, energy manipulating X-Man from the future will have a showdown with Psylocke, Storm, Puck and Spiral in this week’s Uncanny X-Force #3.
Bishop turned on his fellow X-Men in Messiah Complex trying to kill Hope and has fought with Cable across the timestream over the mutant messiah.
How did Bishop get his new powers? In the final page of the previous issue it looked like…before I go on I will give a
