THE WOLVERINE is here!

Early buzz is good for the latest film starring Hugh Jackman as the fan-favorite X-Man in a new film directed by James Mangold.

The movie is based on the Chris Claremont story of Logan’s journey to Japan where he fell in love with Lady Mariko, clashed with Clan Yashida and… killed a lot of ninjas!

At the Fox SDCC panel Jackman talked about reading the story years to prep for his first time at Logan. Continue reading Happy WOLVERINE Weekend!

Nightcrawler the Warlord in Friday Flashback

Feeling like Flashback Friday!

In honor of Nightcrawler’s upcoming return I want to share one of my favorite issues starring the Fuzzy Elf.

At San Diego Comic Con last weekend Marvel announced Wolverine will lead a team of Amazing X-Men to find the one true Kurt Wagner in a new book by Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness.

Nightcrawler will always be my favorite X-Man. Kurt was born looking like a fearsome demon but with a gentle soul. I was moved by how some writers played upon the tragic irony of Kurt’s life. A caring man of faith hated and feared because of genetics he couldn’t control.

Scarlet Witch’s Look in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Scarlet Witch will join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Age of Ultron but don’t expect her signature look.

Director Joss Whedon gave hints of how Wanda might look on the big screen in a chat with The Nerdist.

“She might wear a headband or something that might echo it. The guys at Marvel, the conceptual artists, are phenomenal, and they are so good at taking the essence of what works and interpreting it for the actual human body, and when they paint something you can not only tell how it’s gonna work on a person, you can even tell what fabric it’ll be. They are very specific, very talented. So I’m excited to see the designs. Continue reading Scarlet Witch’s Look in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers at War

New Avengers #8 is the final Prelude to Infinity with a cliffhanger that warps right into next month’s big event! But before I get ahead of myself here’s why this book rocks.

Inhumans – I love ’em. There’s an Inhumanity event coming and brand new series by Matt Fraction in 2014 but the Inhumans are front and center in the coming war with Thanos.

The silent Black Bolt finally gets to speak and the revelation with his beloved queen ends with the noise of a painful slap as the King confesses to Medusa. Mike Deodato and Frank Martin’s art on these scenes are spectacular and poignant. Continue reading Avengers at War

If Grant Morrison Took On THE FLASH

Superman. Batman. Wonder Woman.

Grant Morrison has taken on DC Comics greatest icons. Who’s left?

“The Flash is the only one left that I would still do. If I’m gonna do the Flash, I want to do it as a science-fiction story like The Incredible Shrinking Man or Stephen King’s Thinner, or The Fly, where you basically take a scientist and then subject him to a very simple equation,” Morrison told Comic Book Resources at SDCC. Hank Pym in ANT-MAN Movie?

Age of Ultron #10AI
Age of Ultron #10AI

Founding Avenger and Ultron creator will not appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Director Joss Whedon will develop a new origin for the evil artificial intelligence but Hank Pym will get his big screen moment.

io9 reports that director Edgar Wright will include Hank Pym in his Ant-Man film. Hank Pym, Scott Lang and Eric O’Grady have all worn the tiny helmet in the comic books.

After events of the Age of Ultron comic book series Hank Pym is leading a new team of cyborgs and robots in Avengers A.I. by Sam Humphries. Scott Lang is currently wearing the Ant-Man gear in FF (the replacement Fantastic Four) by Matt Fraction. O’Grady has been a member of the Secret Avengers and Thunderbolts. Who Should Play BATMAN Updated

Now that we know the Man of Steel will meet The Dark Knight on the big screen in 2015 I thought it was time to revise and re-share who should be the next actor to play Batman.

The Warner Brothers presentation at San Diego Comic Con used a classic quote from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns:

“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

Director Zach Snyder said they’re not making the classic graphic novel into a movie “but it will help us tell you something.”

Looks like Superman vs. Batman is on!

Morrison on BATMAN, INC Finale

Grant Morrison’s Batman finale is coming and he thinks you might hate it?

Batman, Incorporated #13 is the final showdown between Bruce Wayne and Talia. Damian was a casualty of the war between these lovers and deadly enemies. If you think killing Robin is bleak then just wait for next week’s showdown.

Morrison was asked about next week’s final chapter by Comics Newsarama at San Diego Comic Con.

“I really think a lot of people will hate it, because it’s super bleak. Continue reading Morrison on BATMAN, INC Finale
