BATMAN #23 Review

Batman #23 is the best chapter yet in Zero Year as we experience the moment Bruce becomes the Bat.

You think you the story of Batman but Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are making the origin exciting, gripping and new.

We jump right into a violent confrontation between Bruce and the Red Hood Gang. Snyder and Capullo messed with Bruce with cruel, creepy, manipulative methods through the Court of Owls and Joker in their previous arcs. The Red Hood Gang leader sadistically beats Bruce physically and emotionally as he shares the twisted connection between them and the night his parents were murdered. An all-different Valkyrie and always badass Misty Knight welcome a new lethal lady to the team in Fearless Defenders #8 by Cullen Bunn and Will Sliney with another stunning Mark Brooks cover showing off Val’s new uniform.

The trio of Valkyrie, Misty and Dr. Annabelle Riggs (along with Dani Moonstar and Hippolyta) triumphed in their first arc but with a terrible price. Annabelle died by a possessed Valkyrie and now the two share a body. The dueling duality is another great twist by Bunn that provides more drama and humor to this team.

Nextwave fans will be thrilled to see Elsa Bloodstone has been recruited by Misty for their new arc Continue reading FEARLESS DEFENDERS #8 Review

One of my favorite creators is taking on the ultimate X-Man. Phil Jimenez will draw and write a two-part story kicking off in Savage Wolverine #12 this November.

The fan-favorite artist has amazing runs with Grant Morrison on New X-Men and Warren Ellis on Astonishing X-Men. Jimenez tells Marvel.com a preview of his upcoming story and how it’s based on an issue from way back in the Chris Claremont era.

Bryan Singer was the Fantasia Film Festival making big announcements about Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Cyclops as far as X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The director hinted at a possible Marvel Mashup movie too according to Comic Book Movie. While Fox is moving forward with a X-Force film written by Jeff Wadlow remember they are also rebooting Fantastic Four with Josh Trank directing. Matthew Vaughn is producing. And it’s all under the creative watch of Mark Millar. Continue reading Bryan Singer Teases Marvel Mashup Movie
