ROBBIE AMELL Joins THE FLASH As FIRESTORM

The CW is recruiting a new DC Comics icon to join new series The Flash. Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) will Ronnie Raymond (aka Firestorm) according to TV Guide.

 

Amell is the cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) guest starred on Arrow before fast tracking into his own series. The geek universe is buzzing at light speed after a lucky few experienced an IMAX preview of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy with more action, more classic rock and roll and a first look at Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) as blue-skinned warrior Yondu.

 

For the rest of us mere mortals here’s an extended look (aka trailer #3 via CBM trailers) as Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) declares the “losers” of the universe and attempts to rally his fellow criminals into uniting against the threat of Ronan (Lee Pace) while sparring in hilarious exchanges with Rocket (Bradley Cooper.)

Klarion the Witch Boy makes his New 52 debut in a brand new book.

 

DC Comics announced via io9 that current Catwoman writer Ann Nocenti will leave the book to launch a brand new Klarion with artist Trevor McCarthy.

The Zero Year finale is coming this month. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s  origin story the Dark Knight in The New 52 wraps up in Batman #33. The Riddler defeated the Dark Knight and turned Gotham City into a nightmare city under his control. After taking on the Joker in Death of the Family and the Ridder, Snyder was asked about what more he could unleash on Bruce and the battle-worn city he fights to protect.

SPIDER-MAN 2099 Begins Again

Spider-Man 2099 comes out slinging in his own solo series this week. Peter David (All-New X-Factor) created Miguel O’Hara back in the 1990’s as part of Marvel’s 2099 line (which included X-Men, Punisher and Doom 2099.)

 

In the pages of Superior Spider-Man – O’Hara landed in our present day last year. Now Miguel i is stranded in the past but determined to fix the future. David is spinning new stories of the future Spidey with artist Will Sliney (Fearless Defenders) with covers by Simone Bianchi.
