Brian Michael Bendis renewed his exclusive agreement with Marvel Entertainment after announcing his departure from the X-Men franchise. Bendis will make his exit with the milestone Uncanny X-Men #600.

The current Guardians of the Galaxy writer is launching a Guardians Team-Up book. Both titles will tie into the just launched Black Vortex crossover with All-New X-Men.

Bendis is reuniting with this original Ultimate Spider-Man artist Mark Bagely for Ultimate End, the final Ultimate Universe story.

All these stories come just before the big Secret Wars event where the Marvel and Ultimate Universes are destroyed and there is only Battleworld.

After acclaimed runs on Avengers, Daredevil, X-Men and Ultimate Spider-Man, which Marvel heroes will he take on next?

Here are our picks for the next big thing for Bendis and Marvel: Continue reading NEXT MARVEL For BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS

Marvel announced a new Secret Wars tie-in series set in Battleworld.

Secret Wars Journal will be an anthology series with a wide variety of tales set in the new reality.

“We’ve got a few crazy twists on some old favorites, but we’ve also got some real fun explorations of some of the zanier corners of the Marvel Universe as well,” Editor Jake Thomas teased on Marvel.com. “We’ve got a fun riff on Millie the Model that made me laugh when we pitched it and tear up when I read the outline. We’ve got a Night Nurse—You heard me right, kids! Night Nurse!—story that is going to be killer, an intense X-Men story, a completely bonkers Misty Knight and Paladin tale. Honestly, there are times I can’t believe I’m getting away with this stuff.” Continue reading SECRET WARS JOURNAL

After making and changing mutant history Brian Michael Bendis announced he’s leaving the X-Men with a giant-sized Uncanny X-Men #600.

Bendis brought the original students of Xavier into the present in All-New X-Men and Cyclops started a revolution in Uncanny X-Men.

As the Children of the Atom feel the fallout from Professor X’s greatest secret – Bendis will exit just before Secret Wars.

The acclaimed writer explains why this was the time to leave:

“Over the course of the last few years, I will have written almost 90 issues of X-Men. That’s a good run! One of the best parts about being on X-Men was that I knew I was never going to hit Chris Claremont’s X-Men record, so I was free of whatever that is that drives such a thing,” Bendis exclusively told Comic Book Resources. As we celebrate Black History Month we’re inspired to salute African-American superheroes and update fans on their status in their comic book universes.

With Anthony Mackie’s breakout performance as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Chadwick Boseman (42) cast as Black Panther and the return of Milestone Media with new and returning heroes – a lot has happened in a year.

Fictional superheroes are not as critical as real civil rights leaders, scientists, boundary breaking athletes and artists but it’s important to celebrate diversity in comic books. Most of these black characters were created by white males but we hope by recognizing these characters it might inspire new writers, artists and editors of all backgrounds to push for new voices and greater diversity in making comics and inside comics.
