MARVEL Celebrates 50 Years of SHIELD

Marvel announced big plans for the 50th Anniversary of S.H.I.E.L.D. at C2E2 with brand new one-shots and massive collections of great spy stories by legendary creators.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law Enforcement Division in Strange Tales # 135 in 1965. Nick Fury and his top agents leaped into Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. by Jim Steranko.

The legendary super spy agency now appears in S.H.I.E.L.D. by Mark Waid, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , Agent Carter and a third spinoff television series in the works plus Marvel’s Cinematic Universe including the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. Continue reading MARVEL Celebrates 50 Years of SHIELD

CM PUNK On New DRAX Series

Major Marvel news as a Guardian of the Galaxy goes solo with wrestling superstar turned up and coming comic book writer.

One of the biggest announcements from Marvel at C2E2 was CM Punk writing a brand new solo series starring Drax.

The wrestling and mixed martial arts star made his comic debut with a Thor annual earlier this year. CM Punk will get in the ring to chronicle what Drax the Destroyer does when he’s not hanging with the Guardians in the first solo series for the alien warrior. Here’s a first full look at Oscar winner and rock star Jared Leto as the Joker.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer revealed the final look via Twitter as a birthday present:

“The Suicide Squad wishes you a Happy Birthday Mr. J!” #Joker75 #SuicideSquad.

After seeing glimpses of Leto’s transformation we finally see how he will look in the 2016 film starring an all-villain team is being shot now in Canada.

FRANK MILLER RETURNS TO BATMAN

DC Comics announced legendary creator Frank Miller will return to complete the trilogy in the Dark Knight Saga today at the Chicago event. Miller will work with Brian Azzarello on the eight-part story that picks after The Dark Knight Strike Again.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON For Virgins

The Avengers reassemble for Earth’s Mightiest Sequel. (“Avengers Assemble!” is their comic book battle cry – for the non-comic reader.)

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, our heroes face one of their oldest and most relentless enemies from comics.Ultron is an artificial intelligence who can download his evil sentience into a legion of robot bodies.

The outing of an X-Man may have dominated news and social media this week but something HUGE happened to another fan-favorite X-Man.

The long-distance love affair between Kitty Pryde and Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) reached a pivotal moment in The Black Vortex: Omega this week.

The crossover between X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy pitted the teams against the forces of Mister Knife and the Son of Thanos with billions of lives at stake.

Kitty and Peter first met during The Trial of Jean Grey crossover and began a long-distance relationship. When Quill’s sinister father kidnapped him and seized the powerful Black Vortex, Kitty went into deep space to save her man. The X-Men joined the fight that include their old enemies, The Brood.

Beware The Leaks & The Spoilers!

These are not new super villains but they are a phenomenons of the modern age of entertainment. They may be forces for good. Good for sales. Are they negative forces in the experience of enjoying a comic book, television episode or movie?

A superhero was outed this week in All-New X-Men #40. The pages where this major character development happened were leaked online. A wave of love, hate and berate erupted on social media. Without even reading the whole book and context, judgement was unleashed.
