As Marvel movie fans await the Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen – readers of the comic are about to see some big changes in time for a major milestone.

Guardians of the Galaxy #14 will be the 100th issue of a Guardians book. The outer space heroes welcome two new members for the anniversary. New Editor Mike Marts revealed Captain Marvel and Venom will join the the series on Comic Book Resources:

“What they add is experience as heroes and they also bring a connection to the Earthbound Marvel heroes. They’re sort of connection points and anchors to that part of the Marvel Universe.
Venom has been very Earthbound throughout his career and has played both hero and villain, and Captain Marvel has been everywhere. She’s been in outer space, been on Earth, and dealt with the Avengers. So both of them bring unique things to the table.”

The CBR story reveals Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men) becomes the new artist on next month’s big issue. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, the team who gave us the current GotG lineup, will have a story in the issue along with current writer Brian Michael Bendis.

Captain Marvel recently left Earth in her solo series by Kelly Sue DeConnick and David Lopez. Rocket Raccoon will star in his own new series by Skottie Young.
