Marvel shared he second trailer and this poster for CAPTAIN MARVEL. Kree, Skrulls. 90’s Nick Fury – oh my!
Brie Larson plays Carol Danvers, a human pilot who becomes part of an alien elite team called the Starforce.
The woman will fall to Earth to discover her past, uncover alien invaders and may be the key to saving the Marvel Universe and maybe the heroes who vanished in AVENGERS INFINITY WAR.
We certainly know why Cap strikes a sweet little old lady!
Watch and come back for the breakdown:
Here’s what we know and what’s making us go hmmmm!
Carol is a member of the Kree Starforce. The Kree have appeared to augment her into a super being. The Kree are the same species who came to Earth to experiment on ancient humans to create a race of soldiers. The descendants are the Inhumans as seen on AGENTS OF SHIELD and INHUMANS shows.
The Kree are at war with the Skrulls (my favorite Marvel aliens!) The fight between the two empires has reached Earth.
The new adventure is set in the 1990’s showing us a new chapter in the history of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Samuel L. Jackson returns as a younger Nick Fury – before he became the eye-patch wearing, war-wearing leader of SHIELD and the Avengers Initiative. Clark Gregg will be back as a younger Agent Phil Coulson.
The Kree claim to be the good guys in this war but given the Inhumans – could Carol be just another pawn?
Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou who played Kree villains Ronan the Accuser and Korath in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will reprise their roles. In that film Ronan was a rebel who refused peace with Xandar and made an unholy alliance with Thanos.
Are there really good Kree? The big mystery is if Jude Law is playing Mar-Vell – the original Captain Marvel from comics. The Kree soldier came to Earth, joined the Avengers and became a lover and mentor to Carol in the comics.
Annette Bening is playing a Kree but is she a famous face from comics?
Will we see the Supreme Intelligence – a massive gaseous being the rules the Kree on planet Hala.
Those Skrulls!
The reptilian Skrulls are shapeshifters who impersonate anyone – some Skrulls can genetically altered to even mimic the powers of a super hero. The most famous one is a Super Skrull who has all the powers of the Fantastic Four.
In SECRET INVASION (must read) the Skrulls conquered Earth after years of plotting and some Skrulls agents being in position for years. Some Skrull operatives don’t even know they are aliens.
Is it possible the heroes and villains who died in earlier Marvel films – like INFINITY WAR – were Skrulls and the real people are being held captive?
In the post credits AVENGERS INFINITY WAR scene, Fury sent a signal seemingly to Captain Marvel but where has she been? Has Carol been in deep space, hibernation or an alternate universe? Will Captain Marvel introduce a Multiverse which could help bring beloved characters back – even if they are recast?
CAPTAIN MARVEL arrives March 8, 2019.
