CAPTAIN MARVEL Movie Burning Questions

CAPTAIN MARVEL is blasting to box office records around the globe. The first Marvel Comics Universe film led by a female hero sets up her joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for AVENGERS: ENDGAME

The Carol Danvers adventured left us thrilled and excited about her return to Earth and meeting the Avengers.

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT in case you haven’t seen the movie yet.

Here are our biggest burning questions:

Where/When

Captain Marvel left Earth to help the Skrull refugees find a new home world. Did she just stay out there exploring space? When Carol returns back to Earth answering Fury’s call, she appeared to not have aged at all. Did time move differently out in deep space or perhaps did she travel via time? During those decades did she not hear about Thanos, The Black Order or Ronan’s attack on Xandar?

Tesseract aka Space Stone

In the 90’s set film, Professor Wendy Lawson aka Mar-Vell used the alien object in her experiments but how did she get it? Red Skull found the Tesseract on Earth in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and Howard Stark recovered it at the end of the film. How did it end up at Project Pegasus with Lawson/Mar-Vell? The stone ultimately ended up on the Infinity Gauntlet and Thanos wielded it to wipe out half the universe.

The Skrulls

The shapeshifting aliens are my favorite Marvel alien villains but there’s a big twist in the film. While the Skrull refugees become allies of Carol and Fury against the Kree, could the shapeshifters come back as enemies in a future film? In the comics, the Skrull homeworld is devoured by Fantastic Four villain Galactus. A sect of Skrulls believe a prophecy that Earth should be their new permanent home. The Empress Veranke masqueraded an Avenger leading to SECRET INVASION in which Skrulls infiltrated every superhero, villain and spy group to conquer Earth. Could the wife or daughter of Talos be Veranke?

Who’s a Skrull?

Could one of the heroes killed by Thanos in ENDGAME have been a Skrull? Some embedded Skrull operatives don’t even realize their true identity. One of the good guys who died in previous films may have been an alien imposter and the real hero is in a Skrull prison.

Where’s Yon-Rogg?

Carol’s mentor turned enemy was blasted back to Hala. Is he in prison or will the arrogant Kree super soldier return in a sequel to take on his student again?

Monica Rambeau

Maria “Photon” Rambeau is Carol’s fellow pilot in the film with a daughter named Monica. In the comics Monica was the first woman to hold the Captain Marvel name and even led the Avengers. Monica later took the code-name Photon and joined the NEXT Wave and The Ultimates. We could see Carol reunite with a now-grown Monica who may be ready to unleash her own cosmic power.

Goose the Flerken

Yet another reason I feel uneasy around cats! The alien helped Fury “secure” the Tesseract but what happened to the alien Skrulls are afraid of and the Colonel took a liking to until a fateful scratch?

Project Pegasus

The secret facility where Lawson worked is a famous landmark in the comics. There’s even a Project Pegasus Saga. Thing of Fantastic Four has many of his team-up adventures there in the classic MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE title. One-time Avenger Quasar and Ben Grimm both worked security at the lab. What other secrets could be held there and spill into a future film?

CAPTAIN MARVEL is now playing. AVENGERS: ENDGAME opens April 26th.
