Oscar winner Brie Larson will suit up as Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL. The first Marvel Cinematic Universe film led by a female hero takes us March 2019 but Marvel shared a first look at Larson in character and new details of the story.
Captain Marvel’s adventure will be set in the mid-1990’s with S.H.I.E.L.D. spymaster Nick Fury – with two eyes. Yes, it’s Samuel L. Jackson – B.P. Before Patch!
But for comics geeks the big news is the revelation of the villains:
The SKRULLS!
The reptilian aliens are shapeshifters who have clashed with the Kree, the alien civilization established in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. The Kree created the Inhumans. Danvers got her super powers after exposure to a Kree weapon.
Could CAPTAIN MARVEL’s villains signal the next “big bad” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase IV after the showdown with Thanos in AVENGERS INFINITY WAR?
The KREE/SKRULL WAR is one of the greatest Avengers epics of all time.
War Skrulls are genetically altered to do more than shapeshift. The Super-Skrull possessed all the powers of the Fantastic Four members.
