Captain America: Civil War is directed by The Russo Brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier).
Based on the modern classic comics storyline by Mark Millar, when the government passes the Superhero Registration Act – it fractures the Avengers and a Civil War among the costumed heroes doesn’t stay civil. The rift also centers on Cap’s friendship with Bucky Barnes, the former brainwashed assassin known as the Winter Soldier.
Steve Rogers and Tony Stark takes different sides and different heroes align with the two heroes. You could call this next film Avengers 2.5 with Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13. This film will be the first time we see the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland) born from the Marvel/Sony partnership. This film marks the return of William Hurt as General Thunderbolt Ross and the debut of classic Cap villain Baron Zemo.
