We knew it was coming: Bruce Wayne will become the Batman again in 2016.

This week we saw a huge moment on Bruce’s journey and the perhaps fate of one of his greatest enemies in Batman #47.

Back in issue 40 (the Endgame finale) the Dark Knight and Joker were locked in a bloody battle to the death as Gotham City buried them in an underground tunnel. Bruce emerged wandering the streets of Gotham with no memory of his past or the tragedies that turned him into Batman. Jim Gordon became the new Batman in a tech suit working for the Powers Corporation and Gotham City Police. Joker was missing and presumed dead.

Never presume!

As Gordon battled new villain Mister Bloom…Bruce had a moment that will have fans on the edge of their seats until next issue.

Before we continue with this week’s shocker here’s a…

We’ve seen hints that Bruce will take on the Cape and Cowl again and DC’s February preview “Bruce will reclaim his true past as Batman.”

The journey to Bruce becoming the Dark Knight really begins this week and he may have an “old friend” nudging his memory!

After Bruce’s encounter with Duke Thomas (the boy he saved in Zero Year and is now a member of The Robins) he starts to recall memories as being the Dark Knight.

“I’m…I’m Bat…” Bruce says in his head until he’s interrupted but the issue’s real shocker!

Bruce is joined on the park bench by a man who resembles the Joker.

“I was in an accident near here” says Bruce.

“Ha. That’s funny,” replies the mystery man “so was I.”

Is this a reborn Joker?

Does Batman’s greatest enemy remember who is he and his connection to the Dark Knight? If it is Joker, will we learn his origin if he gets his memory back?

What else did the Endgame virus do to these two arch-enemies?
