Bracing for STORM #1

As the comics world braces for a new Thor, Goddess of Thunder, fans can feel the power of the mutant Goddess of all weather, Storm!

The X-Men leader’s solo adventures begin in Storm #1 this week by Greg Pak (Planet Hulk, Superman/Batman, Action Comics) and artist Victor Ibanez.

Ororo has been leading the all-female X-Men and acting as headmistress in Wolverine and the X-Men. Pak explains the global mission he’s planned foe Storm in the fight to protect her fellow mutants:

“Storm’s been a street thief and a goddess, an orphan and a queen; a hero to mutants and an icon to oppressed people everywhere. Because of her unique personal background and history, she’s deeply compelled by problems others might never even notice,” Pak told Marvel.com.

“In this series, Storm’s going to go places and cross lines no other X-Men would. She won’t just stand up for mutants; she’ll stand up for anyone who needs her. That’s hugely exciting—and, potentially, extremely dangerous.”

Pak did confirm Ororo is keeping her mohawk and he’s creating new villains for her to face.

This is just speculation but I would like to see Storm have an adventure with the new Thor. Old school fans may remember in The Asgardian Wars, Loki made Ororo the Goddess of Thunder in this bid to seduce the X-Men.

Storm #1 arrives Wednesday.
