BLACK WIDOW #1 Review

To Natasha Fans, With Love!

That’s what Black Widow #1 is from writer Nathan Edmondson and artist Phil Noto.

She’s a SHIELD agent.

She’s an Avenger.

This new book is Natasha when she’s not either of those roles.

It would be easy to say “oh this is like Hawkeye but with Black Widow” but it’s not.

This is Natasha using her deadly skills to atone for the sins of her past before her Avenging and SHIELD days.

Edmondson and Noto knock us out with a fast-paced issue that lets you know who Natasha is now in an action packed, globe-trotting adventure with just the right notes of humor and perfect moments that demonstrate just how lethal this woman is…and how haunted she is by who she used to be.

This first issue includes what I know will be a breakout new character: Isaiah is Natasha’s lawyer/manager.  In just two pages I was left wanting more of the man who manages Black Widow’s “assignments’ because the two have a perfect chemistry.

This is gorgeous, pitch-perfect debut that exceeds all expectations. Marvel’s cinematic leading lady gets the solo comic book long overdue and worthy.
