Benicio Del Toro (Sin City) has joined Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and signed a deal to appear in several Marvel films according to Deadline. James Gunn is directing the film starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista as the heroes of the film based on the Marvel Comic. Glenn Close will play the leader of the Nova Corp (an intergalactic police force) and Lee Pace and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) are playing villains. Michael Rooker also stars.
Del Toro could play the hell out of any of Marvel’s big bad guys even Thanos but what if it’s the actor’s voice that will be showcased?
No word on Del Toro’s role but what if…he’s the voice of Rocket Raccoon or Groot? Two alien members of the Guardians that will likely be created by animation or motion capture. Del Toro dropped out of playing Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness.
As I write this I can hear Del Toro’s voice (and remember his menacing but comedic role in Sin City) matching perfectly with this character!
