BATMAN WEDDING Shocker, The Other One!

I successfully dodged social media like skipping over a gauntlet of landmines to avoid spoilers of the comic book social engagement of the year. Now I need to express and speculate about what’s next after BATMAN #50.

Selina is now starring in her own CATWOMAN series by Joelle Jones, who designed Selina’s wedding dress.

What about Bruce?

Before I deep dive into BATMAN #50 I want to give a SPOILER ALERT plus I’ve waited some time after the book’s release to cope with the post-wedding issue recovery.

The Bat. The Cat. The Wedding.

BATMAN #50 by Tom King and Mikel Janin with a gallery very special guest artists was a powerful, poignant look back at one of the most intriguing couples in comics and their twisted, sexy, romantic, tragic history. Who they are makes them perfect for each other. Who they are makes them perfect for what happens.

As I say in the title, the wedding shocker, the other one I mean the final page.

If you have not read BATMAN #50 yet or read the spoilers stop reading now and rush to your comic book shop to see if they still have a copy.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

It seemed an innocent comment from an old friend. Selina Kyle arranges for Holly Robinson to get from behind bars to be her maid of honor.

After a year of buildup Bruce and Selina (and the fans) don’t get the happy ending. Catwoman realized a happy Bruce means the end of Batman. She leaves him at the altar aka the rooftop. Bruce eventually leaps off the roof, heartbroken, beaten and broken?

Holly returns on bended knee to a gallery of Batman’s greatest rogues with Bane sitting atop a throne of skulls. The villain who once broke the bat (literally) declares, “The Bat…is broken.”

Yes, the super strong foe who broke Bruce’s back in the epic KNIGHTFALL, has now orchestrating the breaking of his old rival’s heart.

Bane appears on his throne with Riddler, Joker, Psycho-Pirate, Gotham Girl, Ventriloquist and Scarface, Professor Hugo Strange and Thomas Wayne aka the Flashpoint Batman flanking him. All these villains have played a role in the King Batman era so far.

Has this been Bane’s endgame since King’s BATMAN #1? Did the brawler orchestrate the ultimate mind game to rip part Batman’s heart and soul?

It’s said no one really wants a happy Dark Knight. Fans will see a broken Bruce unleashed. Are the enemies of Gotham City ready for what they’ve created?

The wedding went busted. But readers should raise a toast to King, devour some cake and watch a Dark Knight go even darker.
