Batman-Themed GOTHAM Casts Jim Gordon

Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) has been cast as young James Gordon in Fox’s Gotham Deadline reports. The television series will about  the origin of the early days of rookie police detective Jim Gordon and the villains of Gotham City.

 

McKenzie was the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the animated movie version of Batman: Year One.

 

Earlier this year Fox President Kevin Reilly confirmed a young Bruce Wayne will be part of the story along with classic Batman rogues Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman according Deadline.

 

“The show will track Bruce from a child (around 12 years old) until he puts on a cape (in the finale),” he said.

 

As for those classic Bat-villains:

“We will see how they get to become what they are as Gotham is teetering on the edge,” Reilly continued about the rogues. “It is an operatic soap with a larger than life quality.”

 

The Joker was mentioned in a story from The Hollywood Reporter saying that Fox paid to draw from the Batman catalog but the main focus is Jim Gordon. The series from Warner Bros TV and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller.

 

Why this is the right time for Gotham.
