The future is almost here…again.
October 21, 2015 is Back to the Future Day, the date Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) traveled into the future to in the 1989 film, Back to the Future Part II. In this fictional future, Marty is introduced to hoverboards, flying cars, and self-tying sneakers.
If you’re old enough to remember the film you might still be waiting for hoverboards and the Cubs to win the World Series.
You can get close to the “real” hoverboards from the classic sci-fi adventure.
EMP Museum (home of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame, and Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction) will celebrate this monumental day in the fictitious world of the beloved sci-fi trilogy, Back to the Future.
On Back to the Future Day, guests can receive $5 off EMP general admission by saying “Great Scott” at the ticket counter. This is the exclamation used frequently by the character Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) in the sci-fi adventure.
EMP in Seattle is currently featuring several artifacts from the film including the
Hoverboard used by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, Pit bull hoverboard used by Thomas F. Wilson as Biff Tannen, Hoverboard used by Ricky Dean Logan as Data and the Futuristic Slice bottle from the film Back to the Future Part II, 1989.
“Great Scott!” a moment in future history is almost here.
