Avengers Undercover is the next phase of one of the wildest concepts from the Marvel Now. Young heroes were thrown into a Hunger Games style competition on a Murder Island by Arcade. Survivors will now infiltrate the Masters of Evil. Can these hardened young heroes convince the ultimate collection of villains that they’ve turned bad or will they seduced to the dark side.?
“We knew from the start that the Murder World story would end with issue #18 of Arena. Editor Bill Rosemann and I started throwing around ideas for a follow-up series around the time we finished our second arc. What we ended up with in Undercover is a brand new concept with a totally different tone and mission statement,” writer Dennis Hopeless told Marvel.com.
“This is the spiritual successor to Avengers Arena but it isn’t a sequel or second season. Undercover is its own story that anyone can hop on and read from issue one.”
Here’s the official description from Marvel:
“Damaged by their experience in Murder World, five conflicted young superhumans go rogue and infiltrate the Masters of Evil, planning to bring the Avengers’ rivals down from within. But the longer the teens spend undercover, the more they descend into darkness, and as they start to build relationships with these multi-layered criminals, the line between good and evil blurs. What will happen first…joining the Masters for real, or getting exposed and killed?”
Hopeless and artist Kev Walker continue the next chapter of the Arena survivors in Avengers Undercover this Wednesday.
