The code-names you know but with different or new characters behind the masks. Legacy heroes Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Sam Wilson/Captain America, Jane Foster/Thor have brought new readers, critical acclaim and bigger sales to Marvel.
A new hero joins the gallery of cosmic heroes like Sam Alexander/Nova in this week’s Avengers: Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega #1 by Nick Spencer.
The first crossover of the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now saw the return of Steve Rogers as Captain America, Baron Zemo and his once and future Thunderbolts plus a new role for Winter Soldier.
In the aftermath of the S.H.I.E.L.D. cosmic prison break, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent inherits a super powered artifact and new powers, new responsibilities.

If you have not read yet stop reading now.
Seriously.
OK.
Here it comes.
Avril Kincaid is an agent working at Maria Hill’s Pleasant Hill prison when Baron Zemo and other super villains break their memory wipes and start a revolt. Kincaid knew the famous Quantum Bands (which allow the user to tap into limitless energy from the Quantum Zone) were being stored at the facility. Kincaid finds the cosmic weapons and Wendell Vaughn, formerly known as Quasar and the man who wore the bands. Vaughn reveals he lost control of the bands and turned himself in to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Pleasant Hill program. Vaughn gives the Bands to Kincaid and she becomes the new Quasar.
“Avril definitely provides a fresh point of view within the Marvel Universe. That’s a big part of what has me excited about the character—she has unique perspective and her own life and background is something I hope we’ll be exploring in-depth very soon. She has quite the story.” Spencer told Marvel.com.
“We have big plans ahead for Avril; she’ll be a major player in some very important upcoming stories. You can definitely keep a lookout for her in the Captain America books, but I suspect she’ll be showing up elsewhere as well…”
Vaughn will continue to mentor Kincaid.
Spencer will continue writing Captain America: Sam Wilson and launch a new Captain America: Steve Rogers book.
The new Quasar will likely see action in this summer’s Civil War II event and in the trial of her former boss, Maria Hill.
Wendell Elvis Vaughn was a S.H.I.E.L.D. graduate assigned security duty at a high-level facility where he first inherited the Quantum Bands. Vaughn original went by Marvel Boy but took the code-name Quasar during the famous Project Pegasus storyline featuring Ben Grimm/The Thing in the classic Marvel Two-In-One team-up book.
Vaughn would become an Avenger, have his own series and be part of Marvel history in such epics as Operation Galactic Storm, Annihilation, War of Kings.
