New creative teams, big finales, huge fights and a big secret of the Dark Knight’s past pack the Batman family of books coming in December courtesy DC Comics. Here are the highlights starting with the “what might have been” adventures of Damian Wayne:
Son of Batman #3 Damian Wayne vs. Professor Pyg, Jakanapes and the Joker? Andy Kubert writes a new tale of Damian from the future he co-created with Grant Morrison in Batman #666.
A sign of things to come in 2015’s Man of Steel sequel?
Lex Luthor vs. Batman on the cover of Forever Evil #4 is the big highlight of DC’s December comics preview. The Crime Syndicate wiped out the Justice League, invaded Earth, rallied the criminals but in Chapter Four watch for shifting alliances, murder and a showdown between the Superman villain and the Dark Knight.
New books, new teams, new story arcs. Marvel will recharge the line with the All-New Marvel Now starting with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in December with a new #1 .NOW Entry for all readers. Marvel starts the wave of news with a fan-favorite team, a classic concept reborn and a new twist on a Marvel family.
Avengers #24.NOW is the kickoff of Rogue Planet #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic (Thor: God of Thunder) as the Avengers reassemble as a “rogue planet hurtles toward Earth.”
Avengers #24.Now hits in December, one year after Hickman relaunched the flagship title. Rogue Planet follows the massive Infinity event currently rocking the entire Marvel Universe. From the Ribic cover it looks like Hickman’s new recruits survive the showdown with Thanos and the Builders. No word on if more heroes will join the already massive team roster. Legendary Marv Wolfman (Teen Titans) becomes the Superboy writer starting with issue artist Andres Guinaldo. Wolfman’s first issue co-written by Frank Hannah finds Superboy “lost in time with the Teen Titans as he comes to some startling revelations about both his origins and his future.
