For Halloween we’re looking back at some of the best horror stories you can find in comic books!
Yes, the fan-favorite X-woman has seen her share of evil mutants and scary villains but I’m flashing us back to Kitty’s early years when she first attended Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
Uncanny X-Men #143 by the legendary team of Chris Claremont and John Byrne is a classic confrontation that’s perfect for Halloween.
Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) goes back in time next year in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Marvel is taking you back into Logan’s past in Origin II this December.
Writer Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men, Iron Man) and artist Adam Kubert team up to explore a “lost” tale of the mutant’s youth and his first encounter with a scientist who will become one of the X-Men’s greatest enemies.
It’s been a decade since the groundbreaking Origin– the story that finally revealed Wolverine’s early life and identity. Given the expectations for this sequel I wanted to share part of Gillen’s new interview. The writer tells Marvel.com why the time was right for this story. Continue reading Wild Wolverine in ORIGIN II
Movie fans may wonder who the Winter Soldier is after seeing the trailer for the Captain America sequel.
Cap comic book writer Rick Remender is working a new Winter Soldier limited series ahead of the movie according to USA Today saying “it is a love letter to (early-period) 007 and Jim Steranko S.H.I.E.L.D. comics.”
Comic book fans know the Winter Soldier is Cap’s best friend, Bucky Barnes. The sidekick was left for dead in World War II but was actually rescued and transformed into a brainwashed killing machine by the KGB. Continue reading Rick Remender Launches New WINTER SOLDIER Series
The most frightening horror stories play upon primal fears or fairy tales from hell. As we approach Halloween I’m sharing some scary comic book tales you should try and here’s why you should dive into The Wake by writer Scott Snyder (Batman) and artist Sean Murphy. This is one of my favorite new series of 2013.
The creators of this Vertigo book spared the tights and turned up the creep factor! No superheroes here. This is the kind of graphic storytelling you share with non-comic book fans to demonstrate why you love the medium. It’s a tense tale worthy of The X-Files or Torchwood.
The Jet City Comic Show is this weekend in Tacoma, Washington. This back to basics comic show is a one day celebration of comics and gaming. Fans can enjoy thousands of comic books and toys, costume contests, and the chance to meet and talk with 100 comic book creators. This will be the first comic book convention in Tacoma in 16 years.
On October 30, 1938 Americans were fixed near their radios listening to Orson Welles broadcast of “The War of The Worlds” by H.G. Wells. That legendary broadcasting moment inspired panic among some listeners who joined the story in progress. On this 75th annivsary of the radio milestone that shook America there’s a new graphic novel in the works that captures the panic in small town America.
As you recover from the astonishing trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past and recent news by director Bryan Singer about new mutants in the film you may wondering:
Who’s That?
Singer confirmed via Twitter ahead that Warpath, Sunspot and Ink will appear in the movie joining the previously announced Bishop, Quicksilver and Blink.
