A fan-favorite villain strikes in Ant-Man #3 this week.
Taskmaster isn’t as powerful as Doctor Doom, Red Skull or Thanos but he’s one of the most relentless and one bad guy you don’t want to get in a fight with.
Marvel writers like Cullen Bunn, who is making a career of writing bad guys as leading men (Magneto, Lobo, Sinestro) named Taskmaster as one villain he wants to write.
Ant-Man writer Nick Spencer explains the Taskmaster’s attack is all part of his long-term plan:
“Anybody who follows my work at Marvel knows I’ll find any excuse to use Taskmaster. He’s my go-to bad guy. He’s also as close as Scott has to an archenemy. We decided to have some fun with that and I’m sure it won’t be the last time he pops up in the book,” Spencer said in an earlier Marvel live chat.
This classic foe is just the beginning of Spencer’s plot to bring on the bad guys.
“Establishing a rogues gallery for Scott is a top priority. Some new villains, some old.
Taskmaster is one of our top villains to join Captain America: Civil War and/or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
He has the ability to mimic an opponent’s fighting style by studying them with his photographic reflexes. He has no real super powers but has trained himself in several fighting styles and weaponry. He is often hired to train Hydra operatives as well as going on missions solo.
Who is the mystery villain pulling the strings behind this issue’s showdown?
Ant-Man #3 arrives Wednesday.
