Ant-Man will be HUGE in 2015.
Paul Rudd plays Scott Lang in a brand new solo movie.
Nick Spencer is launching a brand new Ant-Man comic book starring Lang.
Rudd will face Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) on the big screen but Ant-Man doesn’t have a list of major enemies.
Spencer revealed one fan-favorite villain will appear in the series.
“Anybody who follows my work at Marvel knows I’ll find any excuse to use Taskmaster. He’s my go-to bad guy. He’s also as close as Scott has to an archenemy. We decided to have some fun with that and I’m sure it won’t be the last time he pops up in the book,” Spencer said in a Marvel live chat.
Spencer’s game plan includes bringing on the bad guys.
“Establishing a rogues gallery for Scott is a top priority. Some new villains, some old,” he said.
“There are characters who are new to Scott that I’m really excited about. There are also some characters who have technically been in the Marvel Universe, but very briefly.”
Part of the fun of writing Lang is that he’s not a shining boy scout. As longtime readers know Lang stole the Pym Particles and helmet and seized the role of Ant-Man.
“Scott has not always had the greatest moral compass. When Hank Pym got arrested, Scott saw him in jail and immediately thought of breaking him out. In FF, he wants to end Doom. He wants to do the right thing, but he’s not always sure of what that is and lives in the grey space a little more than most of us might.”
Spencer also revealed Cassie Lang (aka Stature) will be reunited with her father in the series. Scott’s FF teammate, Darla Deering, will be in the book.
Ant-Man #1 arrives January 7.
Taskmaster is one of our top villains to join Captain America: Civil War and/or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
