Evan Peters of American Horror Story has been cast as Quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past.  The casting news came from – you guessed it – director Bryan Singer revealed via Twitter.

Quicksilver is the son of Magneto who later joins the Avengers along with his sister Scarlet Witch. Fox holds the film rights to the X-Men. Disney/Marvel holds the rights to the Avengers. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said both studios could use the characters.

Just weeks ago Joss Whedon teased and later almost confirmed he would be using Wanda and Pietro (their real names) in Avengers 2. No word on how this might change plans for Avengers 2.

It’s possible the X-Men version will be a young Quicksilver set in the 1970’s and Avengers 2 could have the adult Quicksilver, who has become an on-again, off-again villain.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch debuted in X-Men as part of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants but later reformed and joined the Avengers – along with Hawkeye – another criminal who saw the light.

He’s arrogant as hell but Quicksilver is one of my favorite characters and I’d love to see him and Scarlet Witch in both franchises. These tragic children of Magneto could inspire some incredible storytelling, acting and special effects!

I’ve been hoping the sequel to X-Men: First Class would feature Magneto’s children. I’ve geekcasted Rooney Mara as the young Scarlet Witch and Noomi Rapace as the adult Wanda in my dream scenario. The X-Men sequel is already packed but I love Magneto’s other daughter, Polaris, but it’s unlikely she will appear since Havok (Alex Till) is not in the sequel.
