Peter Parker is back!?

One year after Otto Octavius killed him, Parker is celebrated in a new Amazing Spider-Man 700.1 by David Morrell (Rambo)and legendary artist Klaus Janson (Daredevil) this week.

“We’re celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the death of Peter Parker with some special point ones.” said Editor Stephen Wacker and unveiled new art for the issues, Amazing Spider-Man #700.1-5 starting this Wednesday.

In part one of the flashback story, a blizzard is crippling New York City and it’s up to Peter Parker to protect the people of the city. When Aunt May is in jeopardy will Peter have to make an impossible choice.

This celebration of Peter Parker does not mean the end of Octavius as Superior Spider-Man. In fact, the Spider team has huge plans in 2014 for Otto to face Parker’s other greatest enemy.

The End is leading directly into Superior Spider-Man #27.NOW” says Editor Stephen Wacker about the new arc: Goblin Nation.

“Everything we’ve set up so far leads to this. Green Goblin on this side, Doc Ock’s Spider-Man on this side.” said writer Dan Slott.

“Something’s going to happen in Superior #26 and then we’ll come back a month later.”

In a later interview with Comic Book Resources Slott reminded fans the importance of this showdown:

“We’re heading toward the “Goblin Nation” story where we’ll see what happens now after the rise of Spider-Man’s greatest enemy, the Green Goblin and what happens with Otto Octavius, the Superior Spider-Man. Because let’s be honest. He’s fought characters like Cardiac, Screwball and Stunner. [Laughs] THIS IS THE GREEN GOBLIN! Has everything you’ve seen this so-called “Superior” Spider-Man do risen to the level of the Green Goblin?”

“It’s not just the Green Goblin either, though. It’s a Green Goblin who’s had 26 issues to plan and scheme [Laughs]; a Green Goblin who’s secretly the Kingpin of Crime in all of New York thanks to the Superior Spider-Man. Oh my! THIS IS IT!”

Amazing Spider-Man #700.1 arrives Wednesday. Here are two more covers below. I have to believe Peter Parker will be back in the land of the living and in the Spidey suit in time for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits the big screen?  The first trailer for that sequel hits later this week.
