How do you mend a broken superhero’s heart?

Give him two leading ladies in the sequel.

Before I continue here’s a…

SPOILER ALERT in case you have not seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

There’s no denying the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the new Spidey movies. It’s my favorite element.

I praise Marc Webb and company for going back to canon and choosing Gwen Stacy instead of Mary Jane Watson.

And the film followed canon and Gwen Stacy died in a scene that’s dividing fans but longtime comic readers know it’s part of what makes Peter Parker the hero he is just as much as the tragedy of Uncle Ben.

The new film featured Electro and Harry Osborn (who donned the Green Goblin look sans mask) introduced the Rhino and teased the Sinister Six. That’s a ton of villainy.

Why not have more than one love interest in the sequel? Felicity Jones played Felicia, assistant Oscorp executive Donald Menken. Could it have been Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat? Could this expert thief have been plotting to steal from Menken or Oscorp?

I would love to see Parker and Spidey cross paths with the infamous bad girl but eventually break her heart by falling for MJ and inspiring a new enemy.

Plus, somebody’s got to go up against the Sinister Six and Venom in those spinoff movies! Felicia could evolve into a amazing anti-hero fighting with Spidey against Oscorp’s army while fighting their attraction because he’s committed to Mary Jane.
