Announced at New York Comic Con – an all-new New Warriors goes on patrol in the All-New Marvel Now in 2014.

Original members Justice and Speedball will be joined by the new Nova (Sam Alexander) and Scarlet Spider. Writer Chris Yost (Scarlet Spider) tells Marvel.com the mission statement for the newest incarnation of the team:

“Evolution has gone off the rails. There’s super humans, mutants, Inhumans, Atlanteans, clones, alien hybrids, demigods—humanity’s future is no longer certain as the dominant life form on the planet. The war that’s being waged now is one of ethnic cleansing, so to speak; someone wants to save humanity by killing everything else.

The New Warriors are a collection of everything listed above, fighting for the right to survive. They’re eight people from different corners of the Marvel Universe, coming together to do the right thing, to be heroes.

They’re not kids, they’re not seasoned heroes for the most part, but they’re idealists. Sometimes it’s okay to be a hero for the sake of being a hero; to be with a team because they’re your friends, because it’s fun.”

Yost goes on to explain how each member represents a genetic corner of the new Marvel Universe”

“Scarlet Spider is a clone. Justice is a mutant. Haechi an Inhuman. Speedball a super human. Hummingbird a magical demi-god. Nova has alien powers. Water Snake is an Atlantean. Sun Girl is a plain ol’ human. They’re all weird and exceptional in their own way, but they’re all coming together as a team. Eventually.”

Watch for the New Warriors by Yost and Marcus To in 2014.
