Jim Gordon is the All-New Batman currently keeping Gotham City safe while Bruce Wayne is MIA.

Is Gordon’s high-tech armor the prototype for what will become the suit of Batman Beyond?

Time to update our All-New Batman burning questions.

In the Batman Beyond mythos, Terry McGinnis works for an aging Bruce Wayne who’s retired from being the Batman. McGinnis investigates the corrupt Wayne-Powers, a merged corporation including the former Wayne Enterprises and Powers Technology after a hostile takeover. McGinnis eventually steals their latest Batsuit prototype to become the new Batman.

In the aftermath of Endgame, Batman is presumed dead, Bruce Wayne missing and the Power Corporation has taken over Wayne Enterprises. Geri Powers is the current matriarch of the Powers family and C.E.O. who recruited Gordon to wear their Batsuit and be the new Batman in a partnership with Gotham City Police.

After seeing the cover for Batman Beyond #6 we started digging and pondering.

Is Geri Powers the mother of Derek Powers, the future C.E.O. of Wayne-Powers who becomes the villain known as Blight and arch-rival of McGinnis?

Are Geri’s parents longstanding members of the Court of Owls? Is Geri secretly a member of the secret society of Gotham’s super rich?

Are creative team Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo not only creating a new chapter for their Batman saga but laying out some future history for the Batman Beyond mythology?

Looking at Gordon’s suit and Terry’s – it’s easy to see the similarities and assume Jim’s Powers suit is the prototype for what will one day be worn by McGinnis.

Here’s the official description for Batman Beyond #6 by Dan Jurgens and Bernard Chang.

“His suit’s torn to shreds, his city’s dying, and he’s been up to his neck in Inque and cyborgs since he got thrown into this hellish future! But he’s done being told he’s not Batman, and he’s taking the fight to the moon for humanity’s final showdown with Brother Eye! This is it—the conclusion to the struggle started way back in FUTURES END #0.

Batman Beyond #6 arrives November 4th.
