The first half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four was fueled by Ghost Riders, vengeful spirits, attracted agents in love, possessed agents in ghostly, ghastly torment, a stunning LMD and the quest for one of the most sinister artifacts from Marvel Comics supernatural canon.

Supernatural and science collided in a fast-paced thrilling first half. Quake went rogue and joined Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) on the road to vengeance. Coulson lost his Director job in his quest for find his lost agent. The obsession for the Darkhold took hold of renegade scientists.

It all led up to this winter finale that felt like a season ender.

Picking up with Coulson, Fitz and Robbie returning from the “ghost” dimension after Ghost Rider possessed Mack. ADA learned more about her “humanity” via the Darkhold. Robbie vs Eli in a final (?) showdown and “did they say that!?!” hints of other comic book icons to come!

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not seen this week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

The series that gave us FitzSimmons is now the home of MackYo? Mack (Henry Simmons) revealed his feelings for (Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez/Natalia Cordova-Buckley) and a finally kiss her already moment.

Robbie, Mack, Yo-Yo, Coulson, Daisy and Mace (in his own superheroic uniform) confronted Morrow with an ending that seemingly pulls the evil uncle and Reyes into the unknown. In the aftermath when Daisy asked if Robbie could return Coulson said the same thing happened to “the other Ghost Rider” hinting that Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch could exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Melinda May was haunted to death earlier this season. Now “The Calvary” is a captive of ADA (the Life Model Decoy/A.I.) and a L.M.D. May is faking an attraction to Coulson. Fans got a twist learning May was switched all along.

Here are our big burning questions:

Are Reyes and Morrow really gone? Is Marvel Studios revving up a Ghost Rider series? Reyes is headling a just launched new comic book series so it’s likely Reyes/Luna will be back.

Other Ghost Riders? Was Coulson’s drop a big tease Johnny Blaze (the original biker turned Spirit of Vengeance) or Danny Ketch (the second man with the flaming skull in the 90’s) turn up on the series as part of a expansion of Marvel’s supernatural universe?

Bring the the LMD’s? The May switch, the Ultron hint – will producers mine the rich comics canon of Life Model Decoy and A.I.’s gone rogue fueled conspiracies to break S.H.I.E.L.D.? The technology gone wild threat would be a great reason for Team Coulson to visit Wakanda and ask a certain genius monarch for help – the one with the next Marvel solo movie – just saying.

The Inhuman Factor: Will producers turn up the heat on Jeffrey Mace and Senator Nadeer (sister of the cocooned Inhuman) and their slow burning Inhuman story?

The Royal Family? Marvel’s The Inhumans is the next Marvel/ABC television series starring the Royal Family coming in 2017. Will Team Coulson’s early 2017’s adventures in the second half lead them to Attilan (hone of the Black Bolt and Medusa) and closer to the elite, reclusive Inhuman royalty?

Can’t wait until the break?  Fans can get a fix with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Slingshot (Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez/Natalia Cordova-Buckley) the new 6-part digital series debuts December 13th.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. LMD returns January 10th on ABC.
