Thought Hydra was created by Red Skull during World War II in Captain America: The First Avenger?
Turns out Marvel’s hive of evil is more ancient than we knew and strangely connected to the Inhumans.
A bombshell packed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode revealed the secret history of Hydra. The revelation is tied to Gemma’s lost love on the alien planet and could lead to the introduction of most powerful Inhumans in the Marvel Universe.
Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!
If you did not watch this week’s Agents of SHIELD: Many Heads, One Tail stop watching now.
Seriously.
OK.
Here it comes.
Bobbi and Lance (Adrianne Palicki, Nick Blood) are working undercover at ATCU but learn the agency is not working on a cure for the new Inhumans but are creating an Inhuman army for Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe) who reveals a big secret to Ward (Brett Dalton).
According to the former World Security Council member (as seen in The Avengers) Hydra is an ancient as a mysterious stone he possesses that’s a piece of the monolith that took Simmons to an alien planet. According to Malick, Hydra was founded to bring back an Inhuman born on Earth and later exiled using the monolith. Hydra has been using the ATCU for Project Distant Star Return so that the Inhuman legion will be ready when their leader returns.
Rosalind confesses her past with Malick while FitzSimmons uncover legends of Inhumans on ancient Earth and Will’s mission to the alien world.
Only Fitz has been able to bring someone back (Simmons) and now that makes him a target.
FitzSimmons finally shared a kiss but he’s still committed to bring Will back for Simmons.
The big burning question: could Hydra’s Project Distant Star Return be the portal to bringing Marvel’s most famous Inhumans into the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Black Bolt, Medusa, Gorgon, Crystal, Triton, Karnak and Lockjaw are the Royal Family of Attilan and likely the stars of Marvel’s upcoming Inhumans movie. These are the most famous Inhumans who lived in a secluded kingdom on Earth and became allies and sometimes enemies of the Fantastic Four and The Avengers.
There’s one more infamous Inhuman who could be a perfect leader Hydra wants to summon: Maximus the Mad! Black Bolt’s genius brother has mind control powers. Maximus was exposed to the Terrigen Mists as an infant and sought to usurp his brother on the throne of Attilan.
Was the shape-changing alien who tormented Will and Simmons the exiled Inhuman Hydra wants to summon?
Will is not just a NASA astronaut – the symbol on his uniform is a variation of the Hydra emblem. Was Will a sacrifice of Malick’s operation to send someone through the portal and back or was he a willing Hydra follower?
