Peggy’s new friend Dottie(Bridget Regan) is not what she seems. Is she the first Black Widow?

We learned more about this new adversary for Carter and the infamous program that produced KGB operative turned S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Black Widow.

Producers say they wanted a formidable enemy for Peggy and that led to the Red Room program.

“We knew that she was going to be living in an all-women hotel. That was an idea that (Christopher) Markus and (Stephen) McFeely had from the beginning. So we said, wouldn’t it be great to have one of those people who is living right there with her be actually a bad guy? That started us down that road. There are obviously several different villains in our story, and it felt appropriate to have one of the strongest ones be a woman. And also be one of the most formidable, at least,” Executive Producer Tara Butters told Marvel.com.
“In the course of these eight episodes, Peggy’s hiding her secret from her colleagues, from the people that she’s living with, and Sousa’s starting to get on to her. So you know she’s not going to be able to keep this secret forever, and Dottie ends up being the key to all of that, [as well as] being a really formidable foe for her.”

Producers say to watch next week’s episode for more on the Red Room Program.

Marvel’s Agent Carter continues Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
