An all-female Avengers team emerges in the new Battleworld of Secret Wars. After the destruction of the Marvel and Ultimate Universe there is a patchwork reality of Warzones that may remind you of Game of Thrones and Dune.
A new team rises in A-Force #1 by writers G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel, X-Men) and Marguerite Bennett (Angela: Asgard’s Assassin, Lois Lane one-shot) and veteran X-Men artist Jorge Molina.
Just like Battleworld, this Avengers squad comes from different Marvel realities: She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru from Runaways and a cosmically powered woman named Singularity.
“We’ve purposefully assembled a team composed of very different characters — from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies,” Wilson told Mashable. “They’ll all have to come together to answer some big questions: What would you sacrifice to succeed? What is being a hero worth?”
She-Hulk, Medusa, Dazzler in her classic Disco look, Nico and the mysterious new hero are on the forefront of Jim Cheung’s cover leading a huge roster of popular female characters including the Storm and Phoenix of the Chris Claremont/John Byrne era, Captain Marvel, Rogue and Spider-Woman.
As you can see below the current Captain Marvel, Miss America and even Pixie will be joining the fight.
A-Force #1 arrives Wednesday.
