Looking back at women in the pages and behind the comics of 2013. Here’s a salute to three breakout new heroines of the year:

Forever Carlyle

One of my favorite new characters and books of 2013. Forever Carlyle is a creation of Greg Rucka and Michael Lark in Lazarus from Image Comics. Forever is the Lazarus of House Carlyle who begins to question her obedience after a betrayal by the family she’s devoted her life to serving. Continue reading BEST OF 2013 WOMEN of the Year Part 2

Origin II may be the biggest holiday gift from Marvel. Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men, Young Avengers, Iron Man) and Adam Kubert will explore more of James Howlett’s untold past in a new limited series starting next week.

Paul Jenkins and Andy Kubert revealed Logan’s past in Origin back in 2002. We learned the story of a sickly boy named James Howlett in Alberta, Canada who would overcome a painful and tragic childhood and become the fan-favorite X-Man. Continue reading The Wolverine Beast is Back ORIGIN II

Paul Rudd will star in Marvel’s Ant-Man for director Edgar Wright. A big name for a scientist who can shrink down to become Marvel’s smallest hero.

James McAvoy says he’s on board for what will be his third X-Men film. The actor reprises his X-Men: First Class role as the young Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

In an interview with Red Carpet News, McAvoy says he’ll be back for what’s teased as X-Men Apocalypse 2016 and how he keeps to “reinventing Charles Xavier” with each film. Continue reading James McAvoy in X-MEN Apocalypse

Now Evan aka En Sabah Nur (his comic book name) is back with Space Out mixing X-Men inspired lyrics to a cool beat. Watch for a a guest appearance by Beast.
