Deadpool Video Game

The merc with a mouth is exploding from Marvel Comics to his own video game. Deadpool of Uncanny X-Force and his own comic series announced his next big move on Marvel.com:

“Hey suits, listen up ‘cause I’ve got some pretty sweet news to break. I, DEADPOOL, today announced that I’ve…(ahem…we’ve)…yes, right…WE’VE decided to make a kick-butt, butt-kicking new video game based on the awesome-ing-ist super hero ever known to man (and woman, if you know what we’re sayin’) starring yours truly, ME, DEADPOOL. I know, I know…I pee’d myself a little with excitement just now too (you call that ‘a little?’).

Some of you may know me as the Merc with a Mouth (or the mercenary for hire), what can I say? I have skills! (You know who else has skills?) High Moon Studios has skills, and I hired them to make my game, because they’re awesome, and so am I. But they’re not as awesome as I am, if that’s what you’ve heard. (Who’d you hear that from?) (Wait, listen…you smell something?)

Anywho, where was I? Oh yeah, ME, and my game “Deadpool! With some cashola I ‘borrowed’ (ha!!! riiight…‘borrowed’) from Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (blah blah blah), and some of the big cheeses (mmmmm…cheeeeese) from Marvel Entertainment, my “Deadpool” game will feature all of my favorite things–katanas (check), big guns (and not just these amazing arm muscles) (check), crazy poop-your-pants action (check), hot chicks (check), maybe some of my X-Men friends (well, depending on what they’re wearing), burritos, bouncy houses and of course ME!!! (check) (check) And check!

And now, a quote from me about my game:

“I, Deadpool, ‘hired’ Peter Della Penna and his physically embarrassing team at High Moon Studios for two reasons: First, because of their close proximity to Mexico so I can get fresh, authentic chimichangas delivered daily,” said Deadpool, newly self-appointed Head of High Moon Studios, and Supreme Commander of PR, Marketing, Legal, and just about everything I want to be in charge of at Activision Publishing, Inc. “Second, if High Moon can make an amazing game about big transforming robots look cool, then they can surely make me look amazing in a third-person action video game, from all angles (seriously Peter…my bottom is my good side, so don’t screw this up).”

And now, a quote from that other guy at High Moon Studios:

“We weren’t actually planning on making a Deadpool game,” said Peter Della Penna, formerly Head of High Moon Studios and now second in command.  “But,Deadpool came by the studio one day, said he was taking over, and that if I didn’t hire Marvel writer Daniel Way pronto and make the most amazing Deadpool video game, he’d break both of our arms and beat us to death with them. I have kids, so we’re making the game.”

Speaking of ME, for your viewing pleasure (or other pleasure – hehe) check out this awesome teaser trailer and find out more information for my new “Deadpool” video game at this web thingy www.deadpoolgame.com, and be sure to follow me on what’s-yer-face at www.facebook.com/deadpoolgame and twitter.com/realdeadpool.

Thank you Mr. Deadpool.

I’m a huge fan of Deadpool: The Circle Chase from 1997 way before Wade Wilson’s own series, guest appearances and his role in X-Men: Origins: Wolverine when Ryan Reynolds brought Wilson to life on the big screen.

Anthony Mackie as the Falcon in Captain America The Winter Soldier?

Captain America #13 courtesy Marvel.com

Chris Evans will play the star-spangled Avenger again in Captain America The Winter Soldier based on the modern-day classic when Cap’s best friend is resurrected as the ultimate assassin.

If you have a modern-day Cap adventure you must have Falcon. Anthony Mackie is in talks to play Cap’s partner according to The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision. Falcon aka Sam Wilson is one of the first African-American heroes in modern comics. Wilson was born in Harlem and became Cap’s partner in the 1970’s and has served as an Avenger. Wilson’s suit allows him to fly and enhances his strength. He can also communicate with birds telepathically and has an actual falcon with him on missions.

What do you think? Mackie is an excellent choice. I’m thrilled to see more of Cap’s allies in the sequel. I just hope we have Sharon Carter aka Agent 13 in the sequel!

Jessica Biel is making hers Marvel in The Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman. Biel will play the Viper/Victoria according to Deadline. Biel played Abbie vampire hunter Abbie Whistler in Blade:Trinity and will co-star with Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale in the upcoming remake of Total Recall.

Viper is the green-haired villainess who would become Madame Hydra. The criminal operative and terrorist leader has been an on-again and off-again love interest of Logan and a formidable foe in X-Men history. If Viper is in the film could Madripoor can a location in the story?

The Wolverine is said to be based on the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller story of Logan’s time in Japan when he falls for the daughter of a crime lord. Lord Shingen, Silver Samurai, Lady Mariko and the Ronin known as Yukio have been cast.

Madripoor is a fictional country where Logan owned a bar and came into conflict with Viper among many other master criminals. The island nation in southeast Asia is a nest of crime, smuggling, and corruption. Viper gained control of the nation and forced Logan into marraige.

“The Man of Steel” Footage Makes a Grown Fan Cry

courtesy Warner Brothers

The Man of Steel soared into SDCC with a first look at footage from the upcoming Superman reboot directed by Zach Snyder. Henry Cavill joined Snyder at Comicon to reveal the footage that “reduced one fan to tears” according The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision.

Snyder was asked about using the classic John Williams score and his approach to the film.

“We had to act as if no film has been made. When we approached it, we had to say ‘this is Superman for the first time,'” Snyder said. “And you can’t say, ‘Oh, now let’s steal a little music.’ So yes, it’s awesome music but Hans (Zimmer) is going to do something awesome.”

This poster premiered along with the new footage. The Man of Steel arrives in 2013. Thanks for Comic Book Resources.

A-List Creators for A+X

A+X #1 courtesy Marvel.com

Marvel teased a new series! Drop the Vs. and you will have A+X with the promise of creators like Jeph Loeb, Dan Slott, Ron Garney, Dale Keown on board. Wolverine, Hulk, Captain America and Cable were mentioned in the tease but we see Spidey, Doop and Iceman front and center of this cover image. Could this be a new version of the classic Marvel Team-Up or Marvel Two-In-One style series?

AvX Death and Consequences?

AvX Consequences #1 courtesy Marvel.com

We know it wasn’t going to have a happy ending for everybody? Marvel is now teasing AvX Consequences by Kieron Gillen. Senior Editor Nick Lowe tells Marvel.com  “It deals with the effects of AvX on both the X-side and the A-side!” and that he could not comment further “without spoiling AvX!”

“It is pretty hardcore. If you like what Kieron’s doing on ‘Uncanny,’ this book will blow your mind,” Lowe continued.

“‘AvX’ ends with a bang, it’s going to be very controversial,” says Editor in Chief Axel Alonso. “A lot of you will be very pissed at us, a lot of you will be clapping,” he said, mentioning one team will deal with the question of new leadership.

Does this mean the death of Cyclops? Cyke was seen on the Joe Quesada Marvel NOW! promo art but that doesn’t mean it’s the current Scott Summers. Gillen has been writing the flagship X-book for a while and there’s no mention yet of his role in the Marvel NOW! revamp. With Havok taking a leadership rile on the Uncanny Avengers, Uncanny X-Men ending to make way for All-New X-Men starring the original five students of Xavier and no word on the future of Scott and Emma could this signal the end of Cyclops?

I’ve been playing with the idea of Emma Frost’s Avenging X-Men. This is just speculation but let me know what you think? Do you want to see Cyke killed at the end of AvX?
