STEVE ROGERS RETURNS AS CAPTAIN AMERICA

During the Captain America: 75 Heroic Years special on ABC tonight Marvel revealed Steve Rogers would return as the hero in comics.

Last year a villain called the Iron Nail seized the Super Soldier Serum from Rogers’ body leaving him an old man without powers. Rogers continued to have an advisory role with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and is a member of the Uncanny Avengers cast.

Rogers recruited longtime friend and former partner Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) to be the new Captain America. Wilson is currently starring in a solo series by Nick Spencer and leads the All-New, All-Different Avengers by Mark Waid.

Rogers and Wilson are estranged but both will come together to a new threat in the crossover: Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill, where “something happens that restores Steve to full vigor” writer Nick Spencer revealed.

A fan-favorite villain strikes in Ant-Man #3 this week.

Taskmaster isn’t as powerful as Doctor Doom, Red Skull or Thanos but he’s one of the most relentless and one bad guy you don’t want to get in a fight with.

Marvel writers like Cullen Bunn, who is making a career of writing bad guys as leading men (Magneto, Lobo, Sinestro) named Taskmaster as one villain he wants to write.

Nick Spencer is launching a brand new Ant-Man comic book starring Lang.

Rudd will face Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) on the big screen but Ant-Man doesn’t have a list of major enemies.

Big plans for Marvel’s smallest hero.

 

At New York Comic Con, Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso Ant-Man will get a brand new series by writer Nick Spencer (Avengers World, Superior Foes of Spider-Man) and artist Ramon Rosanas.

 

The new series will star Scott Lang (recently part of FF) but Alonso says they “have a plan” for Hank Pym citing the founding Avenger’s long history and saying “he’s valued.”

 

Paul Rudd will play Lang in the Ant-Man movie coming in 2015. Michael Douglas plays Hank Pym.

Marvel Takes Hickman GLOBAL

The latest Marvel teaser is GLOBAL by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Spencer and Stefano Caselli.

 

Could this be a NEW Avengers series?

 

The first All-New Marvel Now announcement revealed Hickman’s next Avengers arc is called Rogue Planet so this could be a companion book tied to it.

 

Jonathan Hickman declared Earth was an Avengers World in his first arc.
