Following the world premiere of the first Captain America: Civil War trailer  with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Marvel via Twitter unveiled three new posters for the superhero showdown coming in 2016.

“Divided We Fall” is the ominous line on all posters showing the conflict between uneasy allies Steve Rogers and Tony Stark turned enemies that will erupt in all-out war.

The simmering fight explodes over the fate of Cap’s best friend Bucky Barnes who was an assassin brainwashed by Hydra. The government led by General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt reprising his role from The Incredible Hulk) wants to have greater control over costumed heroes.  Captain America: Civil War will be Avengers 2.5+ as heroes choose sides in an epic battle that disassembles Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The government cracks down on costumed crime fighters. The Superhero Registration Act is passed. Heroes are ordered to reveal their identities, register and work for the government. Tony Stark sides with the government. Steve Rogers leads the opposition.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON On MARVEL MOVIES

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been a central figure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the post-credits scene in Iron Man to even appearances in this season’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Jackson’s Fury is the cinematic staple character that led to the formation of the Avengers.

But Fury is apparently not in the next big Marvel movie: Captain America: Civil War?

MORE MARVEL HEROES For CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Filming of Captain America: Civil War is underway. Chris Evans as Steve Rogers leads an all-star cast in the follow-up to Age of Ultron.

We knew Robert Downey Jr. return would return as Tony Stark. Now we know the super sequel could be hailed as an Avengers 2.5.

The film will include Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13. This film could be the first time we see the new Spider-Man born from the Marvel/Sony partnership.

Based on the comics storyline, when the government passes the Superhero Registration Act – it fractures the Avengers and a Civil War among the costumed heroes doesn’t stay civil.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Begins

Filming begins and more stars join the cast of Captain America: Civil War making it feel like Avengers 2.5.

Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. return as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. Now we know the super sequel will include Black Widow, Falcon, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier but also new Avengers Vision, Scarlet Witch, War Machine plus Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).

Earlier this week Marvel announced Martin Freeman joined the cast, Daniel Bruhl is playing the villain Baron Zemo, Frank Grillo is back as Brock Rumlow and the presser officially calls him Crossbones. Emily VanCamp reprises her role as Agent 13.
